Race War?

I'm sure I have probably 1.5 people that follow this blog, but all one and a half of you need to read this article: http://www.thenation.com/doc/20090105/thompson/single

We still have a long way to go...

Getting Closer...

I'm at the point now where most of the CDs left to listen to are the ones I have been avoiding for one reason or another. Luckily, I do have some pretty good mixes to break up the monotony.

97) Fleetwood Mac - "The Dance": One of I think two live albums that I own.
98) World of Music - An Introduction to the Music of the World's People (4 CDs): Leftover from a World Music class. Still glad I kept them.
99) Duran Duran - "Greatest"
100) Def Leppard - "Hysteria": ROCK N' ROLL!
101) DJ Q-Burns Abstract Message - "Round 1: Rawkus vs. Astralwerks": A Powerade promo CD that I got for free. Told you I was scraping the bottom of the barrel. Except that this is actually pretty badass.
102) Röyksopp - "Melody A.M.": I have Junior Senior from Denmark, so why not Röyksopp from Norway? You may recognize these guys from this commercial.
103) Alien Ant Farm - "ANThology": Utterly regrettable and ultimately forgettable.
104) The Wallflowers - "Bringing Down the Horse": Actually my mom's album. I've been "borrowing" it for six years now.
105) Big Country - "The Best of Big Country": An 80s band that should be more popular than they are. They'll feature on a SotD soon enough.
106) Mix CD (Winter 2008)
107) Mix CD (Spring 2007)
108) Adam Sandler - "What the Hell Happened to Me?" - No Comment.
109) Adam Sandler - "What's Your Name?" - No Comment.

Anyone want some Adam Sandler CDs?

Song of the Day: Evaline - "Where the Fearless Hide"

Pandora helped turn up these guys. Thanks, Pandora!

Catching up on the CD-A-Thon

I told myself that I wouldn't let the hectic holidays bog me down in regards to updates. Stimpy, you eeeeediot.

Here's what I've revisited over the past month or so. It's a lot.

52) The Cranberries - "No Need to Argue": Great band, but their albums get tiresome about six songs in.
53) Finger Eleven - "Finger Eleven": Before "Paralyzer," there was... actually, a pretty solid album.
54) Def Leppard - "The Vault"
55) Depeche Mode - "101" (2 Disc Live Album)
56) Modest Mouse - "The Moon & Antarctica"
57) Incubus - "Light Grenades"
58) Linkin Park - "Hybrid Theory": I still enjoy it. Shut up.
59) System of a Down - "Toxicity": Classic.
60) The Darkness - "Permission to Land": You have to love a CD that includes the lyrics, "Get your hands off of my woman, motherfucker!"
61) Stereogram - "Schmack!"
62) Franz Ferdinand - "Franz Ferdinand"
63) The Necessary - "This Is Us": Great little band I saw in a dimly lit coffee shop my freshman year of college. I think they broke up or changed their name.
64) Minus the Bear - "Planet of Ice": Splooge.
65) Daft Punk - "Discovery"
66) Fleetwood Mac - "Greatest Hits": Guess which albums I stole from my mom's collection? This is one of the good ones.
67) Eurythmics - "Greatest Hits": And this is one of the bad ones.
68) "Garden State" Soundtrack: A must have hipster accessory and the source of 60% of The Shins' fans.
69) The Return - "Danger Danger Silent Stranger": Please get back together. Please.
70) Adema - "Adema"
71) The Who - "My Generation: The Very Best of The Who"
72) Rap Mix - Hey, it has "Next Episode."
73) John Ralston - "Needle Bed": Actually listening to his newest album as I type this. I think I still prefer this one.
74) Rx Bandits - "Halfway Between Here and There"
75) Five Iron Frenzy - "Our Newest Album Ever!"
76) A Perfect Circle - "Mer de Noms": This reminds me of playing Magic the Gathering in high school.
77) The Cranberries - "To The Faithfully Departed"
78) Metallica - "Metallica" aka "The Black Album": I forgot how great this is!
79) Kidnapped Occasionally - "Kidnapped Occasionally": A friend's high school band. Horrible, horrible singer.
80) The Sound of Animals Fighting - "Tiger & the Duke"
81) Glassjaw - "Worship And Tribute"
82) A Perfect Circle - "Thirteenth Step"
83) Rx Bandits - "...And the Battle Begun"
84) 80s Mix 1 & 2
85) Ted Leo & the Pharmacists - "Hearts of Oak"
86) Switchfoot - "The Beautiful Letdown"
87) Rock On 1983
88) Black Market - "The Wall" Promo
89) Weebl & Chums - "Pure Yak Frenzy": A full album from the creator of this.
90) Rx Bandits - "The Resignation": My favorite CD. Ever.
91) Hoobastank - "Hoobastank"
92) Classical Music for People Who Hate Classical Music Vol. 1-2: I don't hate classical music, I promise. This was cheap and had a lot of good stuff on it!
93) Dispatch - "Silent Steeples"
94) "The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou" Soundtrack: Great soundtrack. Includes Portuguese covers of Bowie as well as this song.
95) Ted Leo & the Pharmacists - "Shake the Sheets": Written on the burned CD as "Shake the Streets."
96) Junior Senior - "D-D-Don't Don't Stop the Beat"

Phew. Looks like number 100 is coming up this weekend! Hopefully it's not the old CD I kept from that World Music course or the Charlie Brown Christmas CD I stupidly didn't listen to last month.

By The Way...

I'm taking a little holiday break. If you hadn't surmised that already. I'll be back soon. Here's a SotD to hold you over:

The Cranberries - "I Just Shot John Lennon"
